Peaches Geldof accused of stealing dress from boutique
Eighteen months after her last shop-lifting “misunderstanding”, Peaches Geldof was accused of taking a £250 dress from a London boutique without paying for it on Thursday night.
The socialite is said to have gone into the aptly-named Victim boutique on Carnaby Street and designer Mei Hui Liu told the Sun: “We were really busy preparing for an important fashion show and the shop was a bit of a mess.”
“Peaches introduced herself and said she thought my designs were really pretty. She took a business card and walked out.”
“That’s when we realised one of the dresses was gone. It was quite upsetting because I have been working really hard for weeks preparing for the show and she just walked out with one of the best pieces.”
A source close to Peaches told the Mirror that it was just a mistake: “The dress was on a counter with her scarf, bag and coat and after the shoot, she scooped up the stuff and ran for her next appointment.”
“The shop management were quite justifiably p***** off but it was an innocent mistake and she later paid for the dress.”
However according to the Sun, the dress’s label had been ripped out when Peaches returned to pay for it the next day.
Shop manager Nazinna Douglas added: “She can get everything she wants for free. To her taking a dress means nothing but it’s not something we take lightly. This is our livelihood. It’s just not fair.”
