Kanye WestKanye West has split from his fiancee Alexis Phifer after 20 months of engagement.

The couple, who have dated on and off since 2002, got engaged during a holiday on the Italian island of Capri in August 2006 but a source close to the couple told Us Weekly: “They’d been having problems.”

“Kanye is possessed by [his] tour and everything going on and just couldn’t keep it going.”

“He broke up with her. Alexis still doesn’t really know what happened. It’s like she lost her best friend too.”

“Things may change one day. He embraced her son and supported her business and her with all his heart. It’s just a rough time right now.”

“They are still friends and have broken up and gotten back together before, so it could work out.”

Fashion designer Alexis confirmed the split to People magazine, saying: “It’s always sad when things like this end, and we remain friends.”

“I wish him the best in his future and all of his endeavors. He’s one of the most talented people I’ve ever met.”
