Steve-OJackass star Steve-O made a brief court appearance yesterday to plead not guilty over his drug charges.

The prankster, real name Stephen Glover, was charged with felony level possession of cocaine after he was arrested on suspicion of vandalising his neighbour’s property at the beginning of March. A few days later, on the urging of friends including Jackass co-star Johnny Knoxville, Steve admitted himself to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and was placed on a psychiatric hold then went into rehab.

Speaking after his arraignment at Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday, Steve-O claimed he doesn’t remember the night of his arrest: “I’m not even trying to spin it. I really genuinely don’t remember. I was in such bad shape.”

“I was a mess. I didn’t have my act together.”

He added that after some time to reflect he wants to be more than “an alcoholic drug addict that hurts himself for a living”: “What I know from being clean for 44 days is if I go back to using alcohol and drugs, I’m going to go right back to being that bad. There is nowhere in between.”

He is due to return to the court for a preliminary hearing next month.
