Sophie Anderton: I’m lucky to be alive after 12 years of drug abuse
Sophie Anderton has said she’s “lucky” to be alive after years of taking drugs.
The model revealed recently that she started taking sleeping pills and cocaine around the age of 18 but checked into rehab late last year after she was exposed offering sex for money and drugs.
She said recently that she was offered drugs when she first started modelling: “It was offered in a way that, ‘Oh don’t worry, this will keep you up and you’ll be able to work the next day’.”
“[But] I was barely existing. After a drugs binge, your skin looks grey and your eyes look purple. My skin looked wrecked.”
“I was lucky to survive the uppers and downers. My mother said, ‘I’m scared, you’re not allowed to die before I do’.
She added that she’s now drug-free but worries about a relapse: “I’m realistic, but I’m not thinking about it every second. I’m thinking about great things like my future.”
