Mariah Carey has married Nick Cannon, claims source

Singer Mariah Carey has reportedly got married in secret to her 27-year-old boyfriend, after just a month together.

According to a source close to the singer revealed that 38 year old Carey married actor Nick Cannon at the home Carey just bought in Eleuthera in the Bahamas: “They have been smitten with each other for days, weeks, and she’s always had a crush on him.”

Carey, and her her new boyfriend boy-toy set the rumour mill going when she was first seen in public at the Tribeca Film Festival with Cannon, wearing a shiny ring on her finger.

When asked what he loved about Carey, Cannon is reported to have gushed, “everything.”

Carey’s friend told the New York Post: “Everyone is happy to see her happy, and it could work out - some people know each other for five years and get divorced, maybe this is true instant love.”

Guests at the wedding included Carey’s friend, rapper Da Brat.

It is rumoured that her nephew Shawn McDonald was also at the wedding - rumours fuelled by status updates on his Facebook page in the lead up to the wedding, including “Shawn is in the Bahamas (enjoying the calm before the storm…) from Tuesday AM till Sat early evening,” “Shawn is a witness,” and “Shawn can officially say that what you may or may not have read or heard is not true…”

In addition to Shawn’s slightly cryptic comments, E! News have received what seems to be a supposed confirmation of the nuptials from a member of Nick’s family, Linda Cannon, who told E! that she had a phone call from the 27-year-old actor announcing the happy news.: “Yes, we know. He called and told us all about it. We are happy for him. If that is what he wants then we are happy for him.”

Mariah was previously married to record producer Tommy Mottola.
