Gary DourdanCSI star Gary Dourdan has said he’s embarrassed at his arrest for drug possession this week - but claims the narcotics didn’t belong to him.

The actor was arrested after substances believed to be cocaine, heroin, ecstasy and prescription drugs were found in his car as he slept in his vehicle in the wrong side of a road in Palm Springs, California.

He was released on $5000 bail and is due to appear in court for an arraignment on 28th May but has not yet been formally charged with any crime.

In an email quoted on Access Hollywood, he claims the drugs belonged to people he took to a Coachella Music Festival VIP after-party and he stopped for a sleep after the event left him “ragged”: “I’m glad pulling over did prevent a DUI. I recommend not driving at all, but a little kip is always good (on either side of the road LOL).”

“I am blessed that the Sgt. realized that the luggage carrying whatever they found was not mine and that my tests have been coming back negative. I’ve been happy to cooperate in any way to clear myself and go on with my blessed life.”

“I am planning events to get the word out that you don’t need a bunch of nasty chemicals to have a good time. Just good friends, family, good music and a good honest spirit full of faith.”

In a statement released to People magazine, he added: “Obviously I am embarrassed to find myself in this situation, and I am profoundly grateful to everyone for their support. I have complete confidence in and respect for the justice system and will cooperate fully with any investigation.”
