Sarah Jessica Parker: Kim Cattrall was right to hold out for more money
Sarah Jessica Parker has said she believes Sex and the City co-star Kim Cattrall was right to hold up production of the show’s movie until they were offered more money.
Kim has previously said she only did the film for the money - because there was no way the experience could top that of the show itself - and that she felt justified arguing that she, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon deserved more money than was being offered because they were as much of the show as Sarah Jessica’s Carrie.
Sarah told New York magazine recently: “If I had thought it was any of my business at the time, what I would have said is, ‘Isn’t it okay for Kim to think the money wasn’t right?’”
“Perhaps [Kim] was some kind of emotional psychic, because this way we made a better movie.”
She added that the film, set for release at the end of the month, was about “love, silliness and also sadness and loss and disappointment.”
“[You see] how friends are necessary but how at a certain point, no one can fix [your problems] but yourself. That’s the difference of where Carrie is now and where she was in her 20s.”
