Robin WilliamsRobin Williams has said he and estranged wife Marsha Garces Williams have signed an agreement to keep their divorce proceedings “honest, cooperative and respectful”.

The document, filed at San Francisco Superior Court and released yesterday, is an attempt to avoid bitter courtroom exchanges and to stress the importance of cooperation for the sake of their children, 18 year old Zelda and 16 year old Cody: “We will strive to be honest, cooperative and respectful as we work in this process to achieve the future well being of our families.”

“We commit ourselves to the collaborative law process and agree to seek a positive way to resolve our differences justly and equitably.”

Speaking about the separation on The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday, Robin explaiend: “I’m lucky, you know, with someone like Marsha, and we have amazing kids and it’s not a slash and burn.”

“I think a lot of times divorce can be like circumcision with a weed whacker,” he continues, “But the idea that it’s going with love, I think, is important. And for me it’s been … a good thing.”

The couple filed for divorce in March after 19 years of marriage.
