Amy WinehouseAmy Winehouse has been released on bail following her arrest yesterday.

The singer was arrested yesterday afternoon after voluntarily submitting herself for questioning regarding her infamous crack smoking video from January. She was initially questioned about the episode in February and bailed to return for a further interview in June but the date was brought forward for unknown reasons and she was asked to attend Limehouse police station yesterday.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed: “Around 1pm [yesterday] a 24-year-old woman from the Camden area attended a London police station by arrangement and was arrested in connection with the alleged possession of a controlled drug.

“This is in connection with an investigation connected to footage passed to the Metropolitan Police on January 22.”

Sources say that Amy, who was examined by a police psychiatrist before the questioning began, was cooperative but “sobbed uncontrollably” when she entered the police station. She was released on bail at 10:30pm but a source told the Sun that Amy herself is unlikely to be charged: “Those being brought in for questioning this week will be asked to give statements about the people who supplied them with drugs.

“The dealers are the targets of the investigation.”

Peaches Geldof is expected to be questioned by police tomorrow after a video seemingly showing her participating in a drug deal with the same dealers came to light at the weekend.
