Former Eternal singer Louise Redknapp, who is currently appearing on bill boards across the UK advertising underwear brand Triumph, has announced that she is expecting her second child with her husband, 34 year old former football player Jamie.

The couple have a three-year-old son Charley, but Louise said the circumstances surrounding the two pregnancies couldn’t be more different: “It was just absolute shock when I found out.

“It took me four years to have Charley and so this time, after just a month, it was very unexpected. We had talked about having another baby and we kind of expected the same problems as last time.”

Whilst trying for their first child Louise, 33, had two sessions of laser treatment for endometritis (an inflamation if the uterus that can cause infertility) so was expecting to need further treatment to aid their second pregnancy. When she took a pregnancy test at home she couldn’t believe what she was seeing: “Time was going on and I was thinking, ‘This is a bit strange’ but I thought it was just my body playing up.

“When I did the pregnancy test, I nearly fell off the chair. My friend popped in and I dragged her upstairs and said, ‘You’ve got to look at this. Am I reading it wrong?’ I rang Jamie straight away.

“He was saying, ‘Right, OK, I’ll call you back’ because he couldn’t talk. He was absolutely delighted, though.”

Louise and Jamie had always hoped to have another baby and have told Charley that he is going to get a brother or sister in November.

Louise said: “He was asking when I went for the scan if I would be getting a picture of the new baby. He is very excited.”

She added that she is as much relieved as excited: “It was such a relief to think I wouldn’t have to go through all that treatment to get pregnant again. The doctors don’t know why it has been so much easier this time - it’s just the luck of the draw I guess.

“But people do also say that the best cure for endometriosis is having a baby. I just feel incredibly lucky.”
