Anne Heche broke after Men In Trees cancellation
Anne Heche has told a Los Angeles court that she can not afford to pay child support costs after her show Men In Trees was cancelle earlier this year.
After splitting from husband Coley Laffoon last year, Anne was ordered to pay him child support for their six year old son Homer and spousal support for Coley himself, totalling $14,798. Anne was also deemed to be responsible for Homer’s private schooling tuition and related expenses, and pays a mortgage on a home in Canada (where the show was based) and rents a home in LA (where Coley and Homer live).
But the actress now claims she can’t afford to costs because she’s out of work. In a written statement presented a Los Angeles Superior Court yesteray, Anne explained: “Since January 18, 2008, I have been unemployed and had no income from employment except for one very short-term contract for a movie role for which I received a total of $65,000, approximately the amount I received for one episode of Men In Trees.”
“I do receive some residuals from previous acting work. However, the amounts are nominal and are offset by recurring business expenses that must be paid whether or not I am working.”
“I am continuing to look for work, but I have no offers pending and the impending strike by the Screen Actors Guild reduces my prospects for work even further.”
Judge Gail Ruderman Feuer suspended Anne’s support payments until August but ordered the actress to provide updated income and expense details to the court if she requires a further suspension. Anne claims to be massively in debt, with less that $40,000 left in capital.
