Britney SpearsBritney Spears has gone on a weekend break to Costa Rica with Mel Gibson.

The pair, accompanied by Britney’s dad Jamie Spears and Mel’s wife Robin, headed south yesterday to stay at Mel & Robin’s $20million home in the Central American country.

A source told People magazine: “They’re just going away for a few days to relax.”

The group is expected to return to Los Angeles early next week.

Britney was first spotted with Mel in March but sources close to the star claim Mel & Robin have been meeting with and helping their former Malibu neighbour since she was hospitalised and put under a conservatorship in early February: “[they] clearly saw a woman in crisis and wanted to extend themselves in any way possible.”
