A spokesperson confirmed the news late last night, saying the nuptials took place in the grounds of Ashlee’s parents home in Los Angeles and the non-denominational ceremony was conducted by her dad Joe Simpson, a former Baptist minister.

The bride wore an ivory lace wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier and Neil Lane jewellery while Fall Out Boy star Pete wore a Dior Homme tuxeo. The couple asked guests to wear dark coloured “cocktail attire” (but “not be overdressed”) to accent the goth styling of the wedding, which included black rugs & chandeliers, red roses and blood red pillows on white couches. The reception expanded that into an Alice in Wonderland theme, with black rose centrepieces and a wedding cake by Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings including items from the story such as a top hat, tea pot and clocks.

Ashlee’s big sister Jessica Simpson served as the maid of honour with Pete’s English bulldog Hemingway as the ring-bearer. Guests included Nicole Richie & Joel Madden, Scrubs star Donald Faison & CaCee Cobb and Jessica’s rumoured-to-be ex-boyfriend Tony Romo.

A source told Us Weekly Joe asked Tony, split or no split, to join the family at the weekend: “Joe has called Tony and asked him to come to show support for the wedding.”

The wedding itself was preceeded by a rehearsal dinner on Friday night at Jessica’s Beverly Hills home, and restrained hen & stag nights for the bride and groom on Thursday night.

The couple got engaged last month after 18 months of dating and are rumoured to already be expecting their first child. The marriage is a first for both of them and they’ve reportedly sold their wedding pictures to People magazine for over $1million.
