Joaquin PhoenixJoaquin Phoenix was forced to cancel his appearances at the Cannes Film Festival after coming down with stomach flu.

The Walk the Line star was expected to attend promotional events for new film Two Lovers including the red carpet premiere on Monay but had to cancel the trip when he got ill over the weekend.

His spokeswoman Susan Patricola told People that it was a last minute change of plan: “He had his dog boarded, his tux in hand but couldn’t even sit on the plane.

“He did go to the hospital to get hydrated, hoping he could get on the plane… [But] he was so sick - and so sorry he couldn’t be there with everyone.”
