The couple are said to have split up earlier in the month but days later, Tony accompanied Jessica to sister Ashlee’s wedding, reportedly at the insistence of dad Joe Simpson.

A source close the Dallas Cowboys star has now told the Chicago Sun-Times that the couple of six months are back together as “a trial thing” but Tony “made it super-clear that if they were to give another go, her dad had to seriously back off.”

Joe, who manages both Jessica and Ashlee, is said to have engineered the early days of the relationship and has been trying to manage Tony’s career, life and endorsement deals since then.

A second source added: “He’s got his own advisors and thinks Joe is really stepping over the line.

“Tony likes Jessica a lot but he wants to be in a relationship with her, not her whole family.”
