Our Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz pregnancy confirmation this afternoon was the 8000th post we’ve made on Fametastic.

According to the stats, I’ve written about 53% of them, Heather 46%, Catrina (who started the site back with us in 2005) 0.4% and our fab new writer Kate another 0.4% - but she’ll add plenty to that figure when she starts writing for us on a regular basis next month. (The other 0.2% is rounding errors and articles by us as the Fametastic admin or by random people who’ve done one off articles.)

I estimate our articles are, on average, around 350 words long. There are plenty of short ones and some very, very long ones - but working on that average, we’ve written between us around 2.8million words. (It feels like recently about 100,000 of those words are Sex and the City…) We’ve posted on average 9 stories a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year since we started properly in January 2006 (we had a short pilot in summer 2005 but only for about six weeks).

We’ve written 663 articles about Britney Spears, 445 about La Lohan, 425 about Pazza Hizzy, 406 about the legend that is Mrs Beckham, and just 338 about Angelina Jolie. I say “just” because she just swamped us for the first year what with the Brad stuff and giving birth to Shiloh but Britney ruled late 2006 and 2007. That 663 stories equates to between five and six Britney stories a week - which is quite a few as I’m sure you’ll agree -but last year, I suspect it was at least one a day.

So what does the future hold for Fametastic? We’ve got some exciting site development plans just around the corner (they’ve been around the corner for a little while but various things have stopped us getting to them - now we’re finally in the home straight) and we’ve got loads of new ideas which we’re hoping to kick off this summer. Can’t wait to hit that 10000th post either ;)
