Amy Winehouse would love to have a baby soon, says dad

Amy Winehouse’s dad insists his famous daughter’s life isn’t as out of control as it is made to seem - and she’d even love to have a baby in the near future.

He told the People newspaper: “If people could see the real Amy - the full picture, not just the worst photos - they would realise she is not in a constant pit of misery or permanently drug-addled.

“She’s upbeat - even jolly - and she’s been writing some fantastic new songs. She’s really looking forward to performing again.”

“Amy is a loving, caring, intelligent girl. She is getting better, working hard, standing by her husband and desperate to have a family.

“I honestly think in two years she will be fit, healthy and having babies - and motherhood will be her drug. She will get bored with [other drugs] because the desire for children will take over.”

He added: “I am absolutely NOT in denial about the extent of her problems - I’ve seen her looking like a skeleton and I was horrified when she collapsed last year. But there is only so much we can do as parents.

“We can’t shout and scream at her - although I often want to - because it just doesn’t work. When she wants something really badly she will realise what she has to do. And she does want a baby.

“She’s not helpless and lately she’s been showing real interest and enthusiasm about the treatment programmes.”

Mitch has even forgiven Amy’s husband Blake Fielder-Civil because of his efforts to kick drugs and help Amy even though he’s currently in Pentonville Prison on remand for assault and perverting the course of justice charges: “Blake admits he was the one who introduced Amy to hard drugs and he bitterly regrets it.

“He has apologised to me and said he will make things right for Amy and my family - and I believe him.

“He’s a charming, intelligent young man - and he’s drug-free now. It’s as if someone has switched a light on in his head which has shone through all the rubbish.

“I saw him two weeks ago and he said, ‘We didn’t have a life before. We were in a room for 24 hours a day making ourselves vomit. Now I’ve realised what a great life Amy and I can have’.”
