Radio 1’s Edith Bowman gives birth to a baby boy
Radio 1 presenter Edith Bowman has safely given birth to her first child.
Earlier in the year, Edith revealed that she’s been warned against giving birth naturally because of an existing heart condition, so delivered son Rudy Brae Bowman Smith by a planned Caesarian section at the Portland Hospital in London yesterday.
Rudy weighed in at 6lb 9oz and has, according to his mum, “very long legs”. Edith’s partner, and Rudy’s dad, Tom Smith is said to have been present for the birth.
A source close to the new family said last night: “Everyone was worried on the run up to the birth but everything went smoothly and as planned. Edith and Rudy are both doing well and Tom is over the moon about it all.”
The controller of Radio 1, Andy Parfitt, added: “Everyone at Radio 1 sends their love and best wishes to Edith and Tom.”
Edith isn’t the only new mum amongst her Radio 1 station mates: Sara Cox gave birth to her own little boy in March and Jo Whiley is set to give birth to her fourth child later this year.
