Chris Martin admits he became a rock star for the chicks

Chris Martin may now be married to one of Hollywood’s top women Gwyneth Paltrow - but he revealed recently he hasn’t always been such a success with the opposite sex.

The Coldplay frontman told Rolling Stone magazine recently: “I had a tricky time with girls until I was, like, 21.

“I got trapped in the friendship [stage] many, many times.

“It was like, ‘I need to be a rock star because this is no good: being the kind of guy that everybody likes but no one wants to have sex with. I don’t want to be the person that makes everybody laugh before they go off and bang. I want to be the guy that everybody bangs’.”

He added that his relationship with Gwyneth has been his one and only “serious relationship”: “Is that weird? I don’t think it’s that weird.

“It wouldn’t be weird 200 years ago… Think of Romeo and Juliet.”
