matt lucas and kevin mcgeeLittle Britain star Matt Lucas has split from his partner Kevin McGee just 18 months after their civil partnership ceremony.

The couple had been together for four years before exchanging their vows in Home House in London in front of around 30 guests in December 2006 but lawyers for the comedian and television producers have now confirmed that the two men have decided to go their separate ways.

A source close to the pair added: “It’s a completely amicable split, no one else is involved.

“Matt’s been away in the US a lot of this year [filming Little Britain USA] and that’s caused them to spend a lot of time apart. In the end, their relationship wasn’t strong enough to stand the tensions that caused so they’ve decided it’s better to accept that now than keep struggling with it.”

Depending on any legal agreements signed before their civil partnership, Kevin may be entitled to a chunk of Matt’s £15million fortune or profits from their sale of their £1.5million St John’s Wood home.

But a friend of the pair told the Daily Mail: “Matt is not looking for a legal battle. He hopes Kevin will take a swift out of court settlement. He hopes the details of the break-up will remain private.”
