Dirty Pretty Things’ Carl Barat possibly facing surgery for pancreatitis

Former Libertines star Carl Barat may be facing surgery this weekend after being diagnosed with pancreatitis.

Carl, who is now the frontman of Dirty Pretty Things, was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after complaining of severe stomach pains and doctors diagnosed him yesterday. He will undergo further tests today to assert the cause of the condition and depending on the results, may require surgery this weekend.

A source explained: “He was in agony and he’s still feeling rough even though he’s pumped full of painkillers. He’s hoping doctors will be able to figure out what caused it so he can avoid it happening again.”

As a result of the hospitalisation, Dirty Pretty Things have cancelled their charity gig at London’s Hackney Round Chapel on Friday night and may have to cancel further promotional plans ahead of the release of their album ‘Romance At Short Notice’ at the end of the month.
