Amy Winehouse’s family to make sure she stays in hospital
Amy Winehouse’s family are reportedly keen for the star to stay in hospital as long as possible following her collapse at home on Monday.
Amy was taken to the private London clinic after fainting while “doing admin” at home on Monday afternoon and after two days of tests and observation, doctors have now discovered that she has an irregular heartbeat.
According to the Sun, Amy’s family are hoping that the collapse will be a “wake-up call” for the singer and provoke her into entering rehab - but are prepared to have her sectioned if she tries to leave the medical facility.
A source told the newspaper: “She’ll be in there for a while if her family get their way.
“There is a feeling they can have a good crack at sorting her out this time.”
Amy’s dad Mitch Winehouse added yesterday: “Amy is doing fine. She is staying in as long as possible.”
Amy is scheduled to appear at Nelson Mandela’s 90th Birthday Concert in Hyde Park, London next week and at the Glastonbury Festival the following day.
Her spokesperson told the BBC: “Amy has undergone more scans and tests today and we are awaiting the verdict of her doctors.
“At present she still intends to perform at her two scheduled dates next week. However the decision will be made entirely on the advice of her doctors and in her best interests.”
