A source told the Sunday Mirror: “Doctor Who remains the Beeb’s jewel in the crown and bosses love pulling out the stops to land a bigname star to add a bit of extra showbiz sparkle to the Christmas special.

“Agyness is the perfect choice. She’s talented and fast becoming a household name.”

The supermodel recently launched her music career - singing with The Five O’Clock Heroes - and is also set to star in a forthcoming film.

A source close to the model: “She’s making the most of her time in the spotlight and is trying her hand at everything while she has the chance. She knows she won’t be fashion’s darling forever and she’s having lots of fun trying different things.”
