amy winehouseDespite her ill-health, Amy Winehouse is reportedly still desperate to perform at Nelson Mandela’s 90th Birthday Concert and the Glastonbury Festival this weekend.

The former South African president arrived in the UK earlier today ahead of the celebration on Friday but Amy is still in a private hospital, a week after collapsing at her London home.

According to her dad Mitch Winehouse, doctors have diagnosed the singer has displaying the early stages of emphysema, an irreversible degenerative lung condition, and warned her that she may become wheelchair-bound and unable to sing unless she gives up smoking cigarettes and other drugs.

But despite the negative prognosis, a source told the Mirror that Amy’s biggest worry about performing at the events is the loss of her lucky charm: “After everything Amy has been through, her main fear is that she has lost her lucky pendant containing a lock of hubby Blake’s hair.

“Amy is desperate to find it because she reckons she can only perform at her best when she’s wearing it.”

Meanwhile concert organisers have been making plans to provide the best backstage care for Amy, with a source from the Nelson Mandela gig explaining: “Her dressing room will be in a quieter area than most and will include a massage bed so she can relax.

“There won’t be any alcohol allowed in there, and certainly no illegal drugs, but there will be bowls of her favourite sweets to help keep her spirits up.

“There will also be dedicated medics on standby in case she needs help but her doctors will advise her not to perform if they think the risk is too high.”

After the star-studded gig in Hyde Park, London on Friday, Amy is due to perform on the Main Stage at Glastonbury on Saturday evening.
