amy winehouseAmy Winehouse’s dad has admitted he over-emphasised Amy’s lung problems and she doesn’t have emphysema after all.

Mitch made the claims at the weekend after Amy had spent five days having tests in hospital following her collapse at her London home last Monday. But now he’s told the BBC: “Amy really hasn’t got emphysema. There’s traces of emphysema. Obviously, if she doesn’t quit smoking it’s gonna get worse as with everybody else.

“The only thing that can go into her lungs are fresh air. She faces a stark choice - either she sticks to it or she won’t sing again.

“She’s smothered in nicotine patches. She’s responding brilliantly to treatment. She’s actually flourishing.”

The singer, looking healthier than she has done in months, left the private hospital The Clinic yesterday but was later spotted with a cigarette in her mouth.

A source told the Mirror that medical issues aside, Amy is still determined to perform at the Nelson Mandela 90th Birthday Concent in Hyde Park on Friday: “Amy doesn’t want to cancel - it’s keeping her going. She begged the doctors to let her out to rehearse [yesterday].

“She went into the studio for a few hours and sang her heart out. She sounded amazing.

“No matter what else is happening in her life, Amy can still turn it on.”
