Britney Spears granted overnight stays with sons
Britney Spears has been granted a weekly overnight stay with her sons Sean and Jayden, for the first time since her visitation schedule was revoked in January.
Britney and ex-husband Kevin Federline both attended the closed-door court hearing yesterday and while the outcome of the hearing hasn’t been officially announced, court sources have revealed that the Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner overseeing the case felt Britney was ready to have supervised stay-overs with the boys.
Court spokesperson Allan Parachini confirmed that said that Britney parenting coach Lisa Hacker answered questions for the court and the singer behaved in a “businesslike” manner.
Parachini added: “I think any judge is pleased to see progress being made by parties in a case.”
Britney and Kevin initially shared equal custody of the boys, who turns 2 and 3 in September, but Britney’s custody was downscaled to just monitored visitation sessions (including a weekly overnight stay) last autumn after she repeatedly broke court-imposed conditions of the arrangement. Her access was completely revoked in January after a stand-off at her Studio City home which resulted in her hospitalisation. She wasn’t allowed to see the boys for more than a month until she was placed under a conservation order and deemed relatively stablised after a second hospital stay in February. She remains under the conservation order until at least the end of July.
The next hearing in the custody dispute is set for 15th July but if the case isn’t finalised by August, the couple may face a formal custody trial.
