Amy Winehouse leaves hospital after difficult “gig comedown”

Amy Winehouse partied until 4:30am this morning after suddenly leaving hospital yesterday.

Amy was first admitted to the private The London Clinic facility a fortnight ago after collapsing at her London home and re-admitted herself over the weekend after taking time out for her gigs at the Nelson Mandela 90th Birthday Concert on Friday and Glastonbury on Saturday night.

A source told the Sun: “Doctors said we should let her do the shows because performing is what she lives for. We can’t take that away.

“It seemed the right thing to do because she was so excited. She looked and sounded better than she has in ages at the gigs.

“We feared a taste of the outside would remind her what she’s missing and it would be hard to get her back into life at the clinic. That’s exactly what’s happened.

“Sunday was like she was on a terrible comedown from the whole thing. She kicked off and threw all her toys out the pram.

“She told [her dad] Mitch, ‘I’m climbing the walls in here. I need to get out’. She said if he didn’t help her get out she’d walk out.”

Her family had previously been considering having her sectioned to prevent her leaving the hospital but the source added: “[Mitch] realised he had to let her leave, otherwise he’d have no control over where she goes and what she gets up to.

“He’s with her and keeping and eye on her, but he’s beside himself.

“Everyone is gutted as she’d been doing so well and hasn’t touched any drugs for two weeks. But now she’s out we fear it will all go downhill.”

According to the Daily Mail, after checking out of hospital, Amy visited the live music venue The Monarch in Camden with friends then stopped in for a snack at a kebab shop before heading home.

Amy’s spokesperson confirmed that the singer was no longer an in-patient at the clinic but will continue treatment as an out-patient for the foreseeable future.
