britney spearsBritney Spears had her first overnight visit with her sons in nearly six months this weekend but according to a source, the experience left her sad.

Sean and Jayden, who turned three and two respectively in September, were dropped off at Britney’s Studio City home on Saturday afternoon and collected around 10am on Sunday.

The source told Us Weekly: “Britney was very upset after the kids left.

“She now does not know when she will get them next for an overnight. She complains it could be next week, or it could be three months.”

Britney was granted the new access right in a court hearing last week but after an ongoing failure to agree to custody terms, she is now facing a custody trial against ex-husband Kevin Federline in August.

Britney is said to want to return to the joint custody arrangement the couple had when they first separated but Kevin is seeking sole physical and legal custody, leaving Britney just her current visitation rights, in view of her mental health troubles of the last year and her current conservatorship.

After a last-ditch closed-door hearing last week, Kevin’s lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan explained: “If the existing arrangement was acceptable to both parties … we wouldn’t have to go to trial. But that didn’t happen.”

A source close to the situation told OK magazine: “Legally, Britney is a child. How can Kevin possibly give up any custody of his children to someone who is a child herself?”

The custody trial is now set to start on 25th August.
