madonnaDespite Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s recent shows of affection, sources close to the couple insist they’re still heading for divorce.

After much speculation about the state of the couple’s marriage last week, Guy flew to New York on Monday and the pair were spotted hand-in-hand on their way in and out of Italian restaurant Cesca on Tuesday night. But a source told the Mirror that Madonna is more adamant than ever that their marriage is over.

According to the source, the singer had told Guy that she wanted to relocate their family from London to New York: “Guy did a lot of soul-searching after Madonna asked him for a divorce and thought he may be able to salvage the situation by agreeing to leave London full-time for the Big Apple.

“He knew it was a long shot but he will do anything to keep the family together. Yet no sooner had he told her than she said it wasn’t an option any more.

“She will still rotate between her homes across the world, but New York will be her major base - especially as she wants the kids to be educated there. [But] unfortunately Guy isn’t a part of her plans.

“It’s all very sad but Guy is now resigned to them living apart.”

A second source told the Daily Mail: “The main issue is what Madonna sees at the complete lack of support Guy has shown for her in all her recent projects.

“He hates that she runs her life like her career - everything is scheduled and planned meticulously.

“Guy is much more laid back. And because his career has slumped in comparison to hers, he has become increasingly agitated by following her around like a lap dog from one red carpet to the next to push her newest project.

“He always said from day one that he did not want to become Mr Madonna - he was always going to be the man in the relationship and was not impressed by her celebrity.”

“This has been an ongoing argument but came to a head over the adoption [of son David from Malawi].”

Madonna’s spokesperson has denied the couple are heading for a divorce, saying: “There’s no break-up or divorce plan and they live together when work allows them to.”
