usherUsher is reportedly considering asking his mum Jonetta Patton to return to being his manager, just a year after the pair parted ways professionally.

Usher deflected to Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez’s one-time manager Benny Medina in spring last year. Sources close to the R&B star claim it was because of tensions between Jonetta and his now-wife Tameka Foster but Usher insists he was just letting her “retire .. to be a full-time grandmother”, even though she still runs her own record label and manages other artists including his brother Jlack.

However another source close to the family has told the New York Daily News that Usher is considering resigning with his mum after his latest album ‘True’ only sold 433,000 copies in its first week of release, compared to his previous ‘Confessions’, which sold 1.1million.

The source explained that Medina told him it was just the current state of the music business but three weeks later, Lil Wayne’s album ‘The Carter III’ had first week sales of more than 1million: “Usher was livid! He threatened to fire everyone.”

“People have been telling Usher to listen to his mother. Nobody knows how to sell him better than she does. Usher can be stubborn. But he may be ready.”
