pete dohertyPete Doherty reportedly backed out of a music festival at the last minute this weekend because his pregnant cat was about to go into labour.

Pete was due to perform with his band Babyshambles at the Werchter Festival in Belgium but organisers were forced to call in replacements after the band didn’t show.

A source close to Pete has now told the Sun that his bandmates and bosses made several phone calls to the singer to try to persuade him to take the cat to a vet for the birth so he could make the gig - which would have earned him £60,000 - but he refused: “He’d do anything for his cats no matter what the cost.

“But he’s mad to let that kind of money go.”

Pete is thought to have around ten cats at his home in Wiltshire and frequently films them to guest star in his YouTube music videos.
