Jamie Lynn SpearsJamie Lynn Spears has said she’s settling in to live as a new mum.

The 17 year old, the younger sister of Britney Spears, welcomed daughter Maddie Briann Aldridge into the world on 19th June and, showing off the little girl for the first time in OK magazine, she described herself as being “very blessed” with a “perfect pregnancy and the perfect delivery”.

She revealed that her labour was induced because she was overdue but once it got going, it proceeded naturally without any complications: “Once I got in there, my doctor was just so calm and so good it was not bad at all.

“They’d told me it would be an eight to twelve hour labour, [but] I was ready to have the baby in three to four hours.

“The first time I saw her, it was surreal. You can’t even imagine that moment. She just looked at me, and she really didn’t cry at first. I was scared, and then she started screaming. It is the best feeling in the world.

“The first time she really opened her eyes and I could see her looking at me and staring at me, that was the most amazing moment, ever. She looked at me, and she knew I was her mama. That was my favourite moment in the whole world.”

Jamie Lynn and fiance Casey Aldridge took their daughter home just two days after the birth but even though a designer nursery was created in anticipation of her arrival, the little girl is sleeping in her mum and dad’s room for the time being: “She is very good. She’ll feed every two or three hours. When she wakes up in the middle of the night, I’ll feed her and she goes right back to sleep. There’s no screaming and crying.

“We get up in the morning, and she gets her little bath. Then I get my bath. We have a routine, and I love routines. I’ve worked one out with her, and we’re happy going about our little life.”

She added that she’s glad she’s living away from the constant glare of Hollywood, on the Mississippi/Louisiana border, because it makes it easier to concentrate on what’s important: “Around here, everyone has the same focus. The focus is family, and that’s a good way to live.”
