Anne Robinson agrees to £20million divorce payment for husband
The Weakest Link’s Anne Robison has reportedly been ordered to pay estranged husband John Penrose a £20million divorce settlement.
The couple have been in legal wrangles over the sum since splitting late last year and are said to have finally agreed on the settlement this week - at the same time that their decree absolute, legally ending their marriage, was issued.
Anne, who is thought to be worth around £62million including property, is said to have agreed to give John, her husband of 27 years, a £16million lump-sum payout and an investment property portfolio of four houses worth a further £4million, and the cottage where he currently lives in the Cotswolds.
Anne will keep the remainder of her fortune, her homes and holiday houses in London, New York, the Hamptons and near John’s home in Gloucestershire, and an additional five investment properties.
A source explained: “In the entertainment world, everyone’s used to women getting massive payoffs from their more famous husbands so this is really something.
“Anne and John are both to blame in some ways for the split and they’re sad it happened, but think this is the best option for staying friends in the future.”
The couple married in 1980 after meeting as journalists in Fleet Street. John later went on to become Anne’s manager, overseeing both her writing and television careers.
