“Insecure” Lembit Opik dumped Cheeky Girls Gabriela Irimia

MP Lembit Opik has been dumped by Cheeky Girls fiancee, Gabriela Irimia.

The politician and pop star began dating in 2006 after meeting on the All Star Talent Show and got engaged in Rome earlier this year - but Gabriela is now refusing to see or speak to him after a series of rows.

Sources close to Romanian-born Gabriela put the relationship’s failure down to a combination of Lembit’s insecurities and domination. A source told the News of the World: “Lembit dictates when and where they meet and Gabby’s finding it emotionally draining.

“Gabby is very stressed and just wants to be on her own. She is very unhappy and has been crying a lot. It’s just got too much lately.”

Her mum Magrit added to the Mirror: “Gabriela started out happy but has felt more and more under pressure. She doesn’t smile like she used to because of the stress.

“She wakes every morning with her hands shaking and her eyes red. She isn’t sleeping because she has so many thoughts running through her mind.

“I’ve always been disturbed by Lembit’s insecurity. When you’re in a relationship you’re supposed to be happy and confident. He never seemed like that.

“Gabriela got a huge number of calls from him to discuss the same thing again and again and is given a hard time when she has to go to work. For now, she’s had enough.

“She wants to be left on her own to break free and decide her future.”

Opik is the Liberal Democrat MP for Montgomeryshire.
