amy winehouseAmy Winehouse’s dad Mitch Winehouse has been advised by his doctor to take some time for himself after collapsing last week.

Mitch is said to have devoted much of his time to keeping an eye on his famous daughter and stayed at her side during her hospitalisation last month - to the detriment of his own health.

A source told the Sun: “Mitch isn’t well. He has been taking a lot on and has been dedicating himself to trying to improve Amy’s health. But his own health has suffered as a result.

“He has been having stress-related panic attacks and collapsed at home last week. The doctor did some tests and told him he needed to take time out or he was seriously risking his own well-being.

“Amy is devastated and told him to get away and relax. She told him not to worry about her - but that is easier said than done.”

Mitch confirmed his health problems yesterday, telling the newspaper: “I’m awaiting the results of tests. I’m going away [to Spain] for a few days and we will see what happens after that.”

Amy performed at two festivals over the weekend - Ireland’s Oxegen Festival on Saturday and Scotland’s T in the Park last night - but is planning to only perform at three more festival dates this summer before taking a break from performing to relax and work on her next album.
