Maggie GyllenhaalMaggie Gyllenhaal has said she’s not surprised how well brother Jake Gyllenhaal gets along with his girlfriend Reese Witherspoon’s children.

Jake has frequently been photographed with Reese’s daughter Ava and son Deacon since the couple went public last year, including recently being spotted with Ava on his shoulders during a holiday in Paris.

Maggie told Marie Claire: “He’s great with kids - it comes naturally to him. He really has that touch.”

But she found it a bit more difficult to adjusting to motherhood when her daughter Ramona was born in October 2006: “[When Ramona was first born], I didn’t know what I was doing. I’ve spent all my time learning how to be a mother and make a home with a child.”

Maggie stars as Rachel Dawes in the forthcoming Batman film, The Dark Knight.
