Kevin Costner had to agree to more kids before marriage

Kevin Costner has revealed he had to agree to be a dad again before his wife Christine Baumgartner would agree to marry him.

Kevin already had three children from his previous marriage to childhood sweetheart Cindy Silva and a further son from a brief fling after his divorce in 1994 - and told Parade magazine recently that he wasn’t sure if he could go through it again: “For years, fear kept me from marrying Christine. Christine wanted a child, but I was afraid I couldn’t be an effective father.

“She said, ‘I’m about children. If you want to be with me, if you want to get married, you should know that’s part of my make-up.’

“I woke up and thought, ‘Am I going to lose a beautiful woman who is willing to be with me to my very last breath because I am afraid to say yes to a child?’

“That’s all it took. I decided I was not going to miss out on love.”

The couple married in 2004 and welcomed their first son together, Cayden, last year.
