Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault call off engagement

Salma Hayek and French businessman Francois-Henri Pinault have called off their engagement.

The couple announced their engagement alongside revealing Salma’s pregnancy in March last year and welcoming daughter Valentina in September.

However, a spokesperson for the actress issued a statement over the weekend to say: “We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault has been cancelled. There will be no further comment.”

Earlier this year Salma told Glamour magazine that she felt no great “need” to get married but thought they “probably” would: “You want to grow old with someone, you want to have a partner and to have children - we have all those things. Some people need the commitment. Maybe we’ll just make the party!”
