Amy Winehouse’s husband sentenced to 27 months in prison
Amy Winehouse’s husband Blake Fielder-Civil has been sentenced to 27 months in jail after pleading guilty to charges of assault and perverting the course of justice.
Blake entered the guilty plea during a pre-trial hearing last month but only received his sentence in a further hearing today at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London. He has already spent eight months in jail since his arrest in November last year, following the assault in June 2006.
In light of Blake’s time in jail on remand, Amy was said to be adamant that he would be released today but was not in court to hear the decision.
Earlier in the month, a source close to the singer said friends and family didn’t “know how she’[d] react” if Blake was sentenced to further jail time.
Three other men were also jailed for perverting the course of justice, including Michael Brown who also admitted the assault. The assault victim James King was found not guilty of perverting the course of justice after he claims he was bullied into withdrawing his statement.
