peaches geldofPeaches Geldof reportedly nearly died at the weekend after a suspected drug overdose.

According to the Sun, the socialite was given mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and chest compressions by a friend at her Camden home until paramedics arrived at the scene.

A source told the newspaper: “Peaches could not breathe for several minutes after suffering a respiratory arrest. Her friend had to give chest pumps and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

“If she had not received this she could have died or she could have suffered brain damage. Peaches had gone into respiratory arrest, in which a patient’s breathing stops but the heart doesn’t.

“It was extremely serious and there is no doubt her friend saved her life.”

Peaches had recovered slightly by the time the medical professions had arrived and told them to leave her alone: “When she came to she started mouthing off and told the ambulance crew, ‘You have to respect my privacy’. She then told them to get out.

“And she refused to go to hospital to have further treatment because she was worried about it getting out.

“No one could believe this has happened to Bob Geldof’s daughter, particularly considering what happened to her mother.”

London Ambulance service has confirmed that their crews attended the scene but “following assessment, the patient did not need hospital treatment”.

The Sun’s source did not give any further information about what had caused Peaches’ collapse, or what drugs may have been involved. Earlier in the year though, she was spotted handing over £190 in cash to allegedly buy drugs from the couple accused of selling Amy Winehouse crack, and telling them “I’m going to need Valium tomorrow after this”. Peaches’ mum Paula Yates died in 2000 of an accidental heroin overdose.

Seemingly recovered from the incident, Peaches attended The Dark Knight premiere in London last night.
