Angelina Jolie’s dad says he’s surprised she’s a mum as baby pics sell for $15m

Angelina Jolie’s dad Jon Voight has said he’s surprised the actress is such a keen mum because she didn’t show maternity tendencies when she was younger.

Jon has been largely estranged from the Wanted star since saying she had “severe emotional problems” during a television interview in 2002 but has been following his daughter’s growing family through the media.

He told Fox News recently: “You know she wasn’t the kind that played with dolls and then all of the sudden she has all of these children.

“She loves kids though. She’s very playful. It’s wonderful.”

Angelina and partner Brad Pitt welcomed their fifth and sixth children, son Knox and daughter Vivienne, into the world last month and Jon, who has recently had a series of phone calls with his famous daughter, added: “They’re healthy and they’re doing well and I’m so happy.

“And of course the parents are really happy and over the moon. It’s a wonderful time.”

In related news, Hello! magazine is said to have scored the world exclusive publication of the first pictures of the new twins. After a frantic bidding war, they are said to have paid around $15million for deal, most of which will be given to charity.

In 2006, Hello! paid $3.5million for the international rights to first pictures of their now-two year old daughter Shiloh with People magazine paying $4.1million for the US rights.

An industry source explained the price hike is a combination of greater interest in baby pictures and the fact they’re twins: “Celebrity babies have become a huge business over the last few years. Readers have followed the whole pregnancy with the stars so are desperate to see the results.

“Even for the A-list, Angelina and Brad are in a category of their own and no one will top that figure for quite some time.

“Other A-listers will probably follow Nicole Kidman’s path and not sell at any price to avoid comparisons but those lower down the celebrity ladder will keep selling. Seven-figure sums buy a lot of diapers.”

The magazine will publish the pictures next Monday, 4th August.
