The Atonement star, who was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of six, dropped out of school in the middle of her A-levels at the age of 17 to pursue her acting career and she told Tatler magazine recently: “I am completely uneducated.

“Not going to university did give me an incredible driving force because it leaves you with a slight chip on your shoulder.

“It makes me feel I am going to read absolutely everything so I can prove I am not stupid.”

She added that she’s currently reading a biographer of Hitler’s chief architect Albert Speer, a history of the Vietnam War and key feminist texts such as Germaine Greer’s ‘The Female Eunuch’.
