Shia LaBeoufShia LaBeouf has denied rumours that he could lose his finger following his car crash last week.

The Transformers star underwent “extensive surgery” on his left hand after his car flipped over in the incident on 27th July and a new report in Star magazine claims that he’s been warned he could lose his little finger if the injuries don’t heal as planned.

A source told the magazine that staff behind the sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen are already trying to write Shia’s cast into the film’s storyline and may have to contend with the amputation too: “Shia called producers and told them. It’s really thrown the movie into turmoil.”

However a spokesperson for Shia told E! News it’s a “completely fabricated story.”

In related news though, Shia may face compulsory rehab time over the crash even though he was deemed to be not at fault.

He was charged with a DUI offence after police officers at the scene judged him to be intoxicated by the smell of alcohol on his breath. The original felony-level charge was later reduced to a misdemeanor as only minor injuries were caused.

A source told the New York Post that Shia is readying himself for admittance to a residential facility, or at the very least an alcohol education programme, because “judges like to see it”.

His spokesperson refused to comment on the rehab rumours, saying: “Right now, we’re focusing on Shia’s hand.”
