Paul McCartney camps out with Nancy Shevell during road trip
Paul McCartney and girlfriend Nancy Shevell got back to nature this week, camping in a tent on their road trip across the US.
The former Beatle and New York businesswoman Nancy have spent the week travelling along the historic Route 66, from Chicago to Los Angeles, as part of their month-long holiday. But even though Paul is said to be worth around £800million, the couple were happy to slum it on the trip.
The couple, who were travelling in a 1989 Ford Bronco, were spotted camping at Bennett Springs State Park in Missouri earlier this week and after setting up their home for the night, headed off on a five mile hike.
An onlooker told the Mirror: “It was incredible to see one of the world’s richest musicians going back to basics. They didn’t seem to have a care in the world as they laughed and joked with each other.
“It was nearly 30 degrees but the heat didn’t slow them down at all. They were like two teenagers on a first date - it was really sweet.”
The source added: “They were seen tucking into sandwiches. Paul even had a cheeky bottle of stout which he’d packed away.”
The couple set out from Paul’s holiday home in the Hamptons last weekend and are expected to return there after completing their trip.
