Keira Knightley: my mum’s a bit mental .. in a good way

Keira Knightley has revealed her mum Sharman MacDonald isn’t a normal “tidy your room and be back before 11″ type mum.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star explained recently: “Mum’s a bit mental in a good way. She’s this chilled-out hippy mother.

“My house was always the one where my brother and his mates would be drinking when they shouldn’t be.”

She added that Sharman didn’t have any problems writing love scenes for Keira in her recent film The Edge of Love because they’re pretty open about that sort of thing in real life: “Mum and I would always talk about sex.

“She’d come up to my room, have me roll her cigarettes and then tell me I had to have one with her [while we chatted].

“It’s not the typical mother-daughter thing but we’re extremely close.”
