Gael García Bernal has confirmed that he’s going to become a dad for the first time next year.

The Motorcycle Diaries and Bad Education actor and girlfriend Dolores Fonzi announced the pregnancy in a statement to the Associated Press yesterday: “This statement is to say that, after so much speculation and comments, the actors … are indeed expecting a baby at the start of next year.”

The couple met when they starred opposite each other in Private Lives in 2001 but only began dating last year. Bernal was previously involved in a long-term on-off relationship with Natalie Portman.
