Steven Gerrard buys Alex Curran a £40,000 car for her birthday

Liverpool FC captain Steven Gerrard has reportedly spent £40,000 on a custom Mini Cooper for wife Alex Curran’s birthday.

A source close to the WAG, who turns 26 next month, told the Mirror: “Alex only wanted something small for her birthday and told Stevie not to go over the top.

“Needless to say, Stevie didn’t take her advice seriously and decided to splash out on a new car for her.”

The car will feature a cream leather interior and the couple’s names - and those of their daughters Lilly-Ella and Lexie - embroidered into the headrests. It will also include a built-in iPod and two small TV screens to amuse passengers in the rear of the car.

The source added: “He’s known for ages Alex has wanted a Mini so he’s ordered a customised one specially for her birthday.

“She’ll be delighted.”
