Amy Winehouse as DorothyAmy Winehouse has reportedly been getting inspiration for her next album from an unusual source: the magical land of Oz.

A source close to the singer told the Sun that Amy has developed an obsession with the 1939 classic film The Wizard of Oz: “When Amy was writing Back To Black she was surrounding herself with 1960s soul music and girl groups and that was obvious in the record.

“This time it will be sounds from The Wizard Of Oz. She loves the surreal look, sound and score.

“One of her new songs heavily samples the theme tune. And the soundtrack and score will be a theme running throughout the record.

“It’s really interesting, if a little bizarre, but I suppose that’s what you would expect from her at the moment.”

Amy performed at the V Festival, V2008, this weekend and has just a few more gigs lined up over the next month before she plans to take a break from performing to concentrate on her new material. She is said to want the album finished before husband Blake Fielder Civil is released from jail in December.
