Penelope Cruz: English-language speaking roles are torture
Penelope Cruz has revealed it’s sometimes “torture” for her to act in English-speaking roles.
The Vicky Cristina Barcelona actress alternates between making films in Spain and Hollywood but find the latter difficult because she didn’t learn English until she was 18.
She explained recently: “I’m starting to feel more relaxed about acting in English now, but it takes time and I have to work very hard on it.
“When I’m not performing in Spanish, I feel extra tension. It’s like torture sometimes, trying to get rid of my accent.”
