David & Victoria BeckhamDavid and Victoria Beckham reportedly narrowly avoided serious injury after a car crash in France on Friday night.

The incident took place as the couple were on their way to Nice airport in France so that David could fly out to Beijing to take part in the Olympic Games’ Closing Ceremony yesterday.

According to the Daily Mail, the couple’s BMW, believed to have been driven by David, crashed into a wall, smashing the windscreen and causing extensive damage to the passenger side of the car. No other cars are said to have been involved and no injuries were sustained in the crash but David was spotted comforting a shocked and tearful Victoria in the car.

A source explained: “They were very lucky and weren’t hurt but Victoria could see how close it was to being very serious.

“She was scared not only for herself and David but also what would happen to their sons if they had died.”

The couple had been visiting their home in Bargemon, near the French Riviera, before the crash.
